A Somber Moment: We Stand Together

Many things are much bigger and more important than wine. I consider myself a disciplined writer. I don't need to wait for inspiration. I create words like a pastry chef creates a croissant. They bake when they want to. I write when I want to.

But, not today.

Today, I stand arm-in-arm with my sisters and brothers in power and in solidarity.

I cannot sit here in silence and go about my business. Not today.

I resolve to listen until enough people are heard so that a difference can be made.

I resolve to stand until enough people feel that they have the support to stand up, too.

I resolve to be a supportive voice, not one that detracts or distracts from the topics of progression and change.

I resolve to help in the best way I know how, and to continue to seek new ways to be part of the solution, not part of a complacent and immobile privileged population.

I resolve to do my best to take action until we only think in terms of one colour: human.

I resolve to demonstrate with love when possible and with courage when necessary.

I hope you will, too.
